Ontario Works – Receptionist
The Grassy Narrows Ontario Works office is seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to work as a receptionist. The successful applicant will be required to assist with administrative duties in the following areas:
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Operation of communications and equipment such as telephones, Voice mail, emails, photocopier and fax.
- Greeting visitors
- Recording meeting minutes
- Maintain client files and filling within office
- Arranging travel, accommodations and meetings when requested.
- Responsible for office supplies and equipment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and proficient with computers
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture, values, and beliefs.
- Possess excellent communication skills.

Director of Service-Protection
Full-Time Position
Location: Grassy Narrows/ Kenora
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Services is a full-time permanent program support position. The Director of Services is responsible for ensuring that the agency consistently provides comprebensive, competent, relevant and effective service to First Nation children, families and their communities. The Director of Services is responsible for supervising the Resource Managers and specialist staff and directing professional consultants. The Director of Services is a member of the Senior Management Team.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Director of Services reports to the Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Social Work Degree with a minimum of five years applied practice with children, adolescents and families, including management and administrative experience in a social service agency setting. However, others with a combination of skills, education and experience that would allow them to do the job may be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and Regulations, particularly in the application of Part X relating to Customary Care of the First Nations.
- Expert knowledge of Customary Care and the philosophy of service development and delivery; the communities and family structure, as well as First Nation customs and traditions.
- Proven ability to work with First Nation people.
- Working knowledge of the administrative structure and operations of ACES including the service delivery model, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of the structure and operations of Grand Council Treaty #3 and the First Nations in the Kenora area including tribal and external services and service agencies in the area.
- Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills; proven knowledge of theories of human behavior and proven ability to apply theories of assessment, planning and action – in the contexts of direct service, management, and administration.
- Proven understanding of and ability to translate relevant legislation into agency-based policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to consult productively with other social service agency officials and government representatives, to convey both agency functioning and goals and to secure necessary support and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to research community needs and service expectations, plan community-based services and ability to prepare comprehensive detailed reports on
- Working knowledge of group dynamics, consultation and conflict resolution techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and facilitate community and group decision-making process through knowledge, ideas and persuasion.
Director of Service-Protection
- Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with clients, subordinates, colleagues, other relevant organizations and management.
- Strong commitment to Anishinaabe children and their families by ensuring services are provided in ways that respect Anishinaabe cultural and spiritual practices.
- Commitment to providing services in the Anishinsabe context of extended family and community involvement.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to take direction and to work within the policies, procedures and guidelines and the Agency’s mission, philosophy and core values.
- Ability to use authority.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to flex daily work hours as determined by the Board of Directors.
- You must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and be willing to travel.
- Must provide a clear Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract; and
- Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.

The Receptionist is a full-time permanent administrative position. The Receptionist is responsible for reception of all clients, guests, and the public who contact the offices of Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services. The Receptionist is the first impression of the agency and as such will provide reception duties professionally, respectfully, and graciously, always demonstrating our mission of service to our community RESPONSIBILITY:
The Receptionist reports to the Resource Manager in all aspects of job function and will exercise the following duties under the direction of the Resource Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and Regulations, Customary Care and the philosophy of service delivery, First Nation cormunities, family structure, as well as local customs and traditions.
- Knowledge of the administrative structure and operations of Kitapinoonjüminaanik
- Family Services including service delivery, policies, procedures, and office methods Committed to always ensure highest level of confidentiality; thorough understanding that all agency matters related to services, clients, staff, and all other agency business must be kept confidential
- Ability to coordinate all reception services, and to receive clients, caregivers, and other visitors attending the office in a professional, respectful, and gracious manner.
- Ability to direct visitors and phone call appropriately and provide general non-confidential information.
- Ability to assess urgent matters ensuring appropriate staff are promptly notified or refer matter to supervisors and/or directors as required.
- Experience with computers and office procedures to include incoming and outgoing mail and faxes, maintaining an inventory of office supplies, filing, and basic word processing.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a good rapport with internal
